network problems - "no service" or "searching" fix

Postby cromagz » Sun Feb 21, 2010 7:03 am

Hi

I've been trying to locate any information about how to fix the "no service" or "searching" for network problem.. (if there is a fix)

my phone
3g 8gig
3.1.2 firmware
5.11.07 baseband
05.09 [G2M3S2] bootloader

I've tried pwnage tool - jailbroken successfully. tried ultrasn0w - no unlock
tried redsn0w - no unlock

tried blackra1n - jailbroken successfully. blacksn0w - no unlock

it just stays on searching for awhile and then goes to no service.

I have a 2g unlocked and jailbroken so I know that my sim works...

any insight would be greatly appreciated
thank you

Sounds hardware related to the iphone 3g. Also if the sim is older iphone 3g may not read it but the 2g can. Had the same problem and just got a new sim and both 2g and 3g read it now

I suspect it is the SIM too. I have the same firmware and baseband and blacksn0w works just fine.

It would be interesting to see what your syslog looks like when you insert the SIM. Here's the relevant section from mine.

I got that by using the Syslog SBSettings toggle to turn on logging, which logs to /var/log/syslog. You can then do "tail -f /var/log/syslog" before you insert the SIM and you will see messages when you insert it.
