Usually an uninstall and install will fix Facebook. If you continue to have problems, see below.

Check Settings -> Facebook -> Push notifications . If all items are on, turn several off and tap "Facebook" in top left. Then, go back to "Push Notifications" and turn them all on.

Go to Settings -> Notifications -> Facebook and make sure all three items are turned on.

The latest version of Facebook is a problem because the app does not pick up the new push certificates that you are using. That is not my fault, that is due to a poor design of the app. The official Facebook has poor notification support even when it *does* work.

You can use the free app Boxcar to push Facebook notifications or there are many other apps in the app store that do so.

You can configure Boxcar to open the notifications in the Facebook app in advanced settings.
